Brazil: Everything From The Amazon to Carnaval
The population consists of about 175 million Portuguese speaking people. Sometimes this figure is surprising since we tend to think of Brazil as being primarily rain forests. Sadly, although there are still areas of untouched rain forests, much of it is being clear-cut. Some of this natural beauty is destroyed everyday.
There has been a lot of bad press surrounding Brazil lately. Stories broadcast worldwide have emphasized the extreme poverty in some areas. Certainly there are places you should avoid, but they are mainly sections of the larger cities like Rio de Janeiro. Do some research before your trip so you'll know where it's safe to travel and which areas to avoid. As long as you know the prevailing social conditions, you should be safe.
Brazil is famous for the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean where water sports are the main attraction. Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janeiro is the most well known beach in Brazil. The beach is flooded with people who wear almost nothing which does not qualify it as the best family destination, but you will have fun watching people all the same.
Rio de Janeiro is a wonderful city which you must not miss. Rio has a wonderful landscape with mountains and islands. Rio is famous for the sugar loaf mountain and statue of Christ the Redeemer. The people of Rio enjoy partying up to the wee hours of the morning. It is a city that is best visited during the carnival to have oodles of fun.
A trip to the Amazon forests will certainly be memorable. You can see a lot of different species of birds and plants, which you had never seen before. You will also get a chance to see many abandoned villages which were once inhabited by the Indian tribes along the river. They have now moved still deeper into the Amazon.
If you are looking for something a little less touristy and unique, head to Jericoacoara. Jericoacoara is a small fishing village, and it's slowly gaining in popularity with tourists, but mainly back packers. It's a beautiful little area where the wind surfing is great, and you can just relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of the bigger cities for a few days.
The largest and most popular airport in Brazil is in Rio de Janeiro. Depending on where you're coming from, there are other possible destinations for landing. The country is large, so if you plan to explore you'll probably be booking some flights on regional airlines. Flying is expensive in Brazil, so it's a good idea to efficiently organize your trip in advance. Consider some bus excursions too, since you'll have a chance to see more of the beautiful surrounding areas.
Brazil is a fantastic country with one of the finest people in the world. Though it does have its share of problems, it is one of the favorite destinations of many travelers and vacationers due to its mild temperatures and the fun loving quality of the Brazilians.BY:Jose Balagnio
